Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our Center. If you share our passion for wolves, wildlife and the wild places they call home, we’d value your time, talents and support.
Become a Volunteer
There’s something about the wolf that has drawn people from all walks of life to become volunteers at the Endangered Wolf Center. If you live in the St. Louis area and would like to volunteer your time to help the endangered animals in our care, we’d love to hear from you.
Volunteers are an integral part of our pack. Volunteer possibilities include:
• Educating the public about the wolf and the role it plays in ensuring healthy ecosystems.
• Helping maintain our buildings and grounds.
• Helping with our special events, such as Wolf Fest, Polo and Trivia.
• Helping with our evening programs.
If you’re interested in helping to conduct educational programs, you’ll also need to complete training to become a certified Naturalist and Docent, which we will discuss with you.

The first question many new volunteers ask is if they’ll get to work directly with wolves. While we’d all love to be able to interact with the animals in our care, it’s important to remember that they are still wild animals, and some of them may one day be introduced into their native habitats. If so, preserving their instinctive shyness around humans is one of the most valuable things we can do for them to help ensure their safety.
As participants in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Mexican Wolf and Red Wolf Recovery Programs, the Endangered Wolf Center’s long-range goal is to breed and introduce these endangered animals to the wild and the ecosystems that depend on them. While that means volunteer activities don’t involve direct contact with wolves, the work our volunteers do on their behalf can have lifelong benefits for them and future generations. If you’re hearing the call of the wolf in your heart, we invite you to join us.
